The Dream Keeper

by: Langston Hughes

Bring me all of your dreams,

your  dreamers

Bring me all of your

Herat melodies

That I may wrap them

In a blue cloud-cloth

Away from the too-rough fingers

of the world

I think this is a beautiful poem. Its subtleness and simplicity allows me to take it all in, and understand. All of these lines are Life Lines. They speak to me. There call for a simpler time. When dreamers could dream and not be judged by the world. The speaker is talking directly to you. It wants to protect you, and allow for you to thrive. Regardless of the dream. This poem embodies compassion and love. I think the most appropriate speaker for the poem would be a mother and father.
